What I’m Fighting For

My Priorities

Santa Monica should work for the people who live and work here. If you’re raising a kid, renting an apartment, running a small business, or trying to retire with stability, this city should make your life easier. Not harder.

Here’s what that means to me.

Keep Santa Monica Livable for Families

Families are leaving because it’s too expensive. Housing costs are high. Childcare is overwhelming. We don’t have enough parks and public spaces.

I want Santa Monica to be a place where you can raise your kids, walk to a safe park, rely on strong public schools, and feel good about staying here long-term.

That means focusing on housing, childcare, safer public spaces, and everyday quality of life.

Housing People Can Actually Afford

We need more housing. That includes affordable housing, workforce housing, and market-rate housing that helps bring overall costs down. If we don’t build enough, prices keep rising and working families get pushed out.

I support building more housing, strengthening renter protections, making development decisions clear and transparent, and preventing displacement.

If it takes years to approve housing, costs go up. We need to move faster and responsibly.

A City That Listens, Serves, and Shows Up

Too many people feel like decisions are made before the public ever walks into the room. Government should be clear, open, and responsive.

Community input should shape outcomes. Not just check a box.

When the city makes a promise, it should follow through.

Safe, Clean, Welcoming Public Spaces

People deserve parks, sidewalks, and streets that feel safe and usable. We can care about people who are struggling and still insist that public spaces work for everyone.

We need real solutions to homelessness and public safety, including housing, mental health services, outreach, and clear expectations of our partners so public spaces work for everyone.

Support Workers and Local Businesses

I grew up in a union household. And when my father retired, he opened up restaurants. So I know workers and small businesses are not opponents. They’re both part of what makes this city run.

We need:

  • Fair labor standards

  • Policies that help local businesses survive

  • Economic strategies that support working families

  • Clear, predictable rules

When workers are stable and small businesses can thrive, the whole city benefits.
